Nicolaus Otto
We all know Henry Ford. But, what about the guy who made one of the most significant developments in automotive engine design? Nicolaus Otto built the first practical four-stroke internal combustion engine in 1876 (the same basic design is in our cars today). The result was greater efficiency and output (more of what you want and less of what you don't... we like that concept). Nicolaus was also the inventor of the Otto-cycle, the precursor to the motorcycle. As an innovator and inventor, Nicolaus pioneered developments that accelerated his industry. We couldn't think of a better role model after which to name our company. You can learn more about Nicolaus here or by Googling "Nicolaus Otto."
